Have you checked if it works in XP compatibility mode? It might be a driver problem.

I've checked XP and Windows 7 compatibility mode... the issues persist.

I experienced a comparable issue. After launching Synapse on Windows 7, my language bar vanished and I could not switch between US and other layouts anymore—it remained locked on the default setting.

This is discouraging. I see the original post is more than a year old. I have the exact same issue, except in my case it's Thai. I submitted a bug report and included this forum thread for reference. Also here's a video of the problem and how to temporarily fix it.

I had this problem too. After a tweak on windows registry i solved this. I don't know if this will solve for you, but you are free to try. How did i solve this problem: 1 - Go to windows registry editor. (HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Keyboard Layout). 2 - On "Preload" you should have a key (and a code, mine was 00000416) for every language you have in windows, identify which is which by removing and adding your languages on windows language settings on control panel and refresh the registry editor (using F5). 3 - Now go to "Substitutes", you should have a key named after one of your codes in "Preload" and it's value should be should be something like 00020XXX where XXX are three other numbers. Get the three last numbers of you main language in "Preload" and replace for XXX in 00020XXX. Mine is 00020416.

I encountered the same issue but resolved it by navigating to the control panel, then clock, language, and advanced options, and verifying the setting labeled "use desktop language."

The situation I'm describing is what I was saying about now, and it's in Swedish for me since I'm a Swede.

I’m bringing up an old discussion because it’s still relevant after a year. If this topic helps someone avoid the hassle of dealing with a company that seems indifferent, then it’s a win. Similar problems pop up with Norwegian settings (Nordic layout Deathstalker), but I reached out to Razer support, assuming it was my mistake. Here’s what I received:

- **Request Summary:**
- Razer Deathstalker software interferes with the Windows 8 language bar, adding Norwegian as a default language and macro key names.
- It doesn’t appear in language settings, so removal isn’t possible—only within the language bar.
- After restarting or reconfiguring, it keeps reappearing when I type in browsers or Skype.

- **Troubleshooting Attempts:**
- Changed all settings and reset to defaults.
- Razer Tier 1 support confirmed:
1. Open Start Menu → Type “Region and Language.”
2. Ensure Formats, Location, and Keyboards & Languages are set consistently.
3. After adjustments, the software should detect the mouse and function properly.

- **Follow-Up:**
- Razer CSM replied: Apologies for the confusion. We need time to verify with the right team. You’ll be updated.
- A few days later, I received a message saying my issue was resolved. I asked why it was marked solved despite ongoing problems, and they suggested accessing settings via Synapse.
- After opening Synapse, clicking “Send Feedback” and selecting “Bug Report” led to further troubleshooting.
- I removed Razer Synapse entirely; the problem disappeared until a system update reintroduced it, still unresolved.

- **Final Thoughts:**
- I checked online, hoping someone else would see this and avoid the same frustration.

It seems Synapse was the real cause all along. I experienced the same problem for years, but I seldom restarted my PC, so I didn’t realize it vanished after switching keyboards. It also added Norwegian to my setup.

It appears the setup varies by region, with Nordic layout keyboards adding Norwegian. Most users who don’t need language changes often go unnoticed, but multiple languages in a single bar can cause issues. Following a recent Nvidia GeForce update, I now see pop-ups requesting Razer Synapse even though it was previously disabled on my system.
