Hey everyone,
Please rate the setup from 1 to 10, keeping in mind it's a budget build. It might have some mild overclocking. The plan is for gaming and some editing.
Games I plan to play:
- Ark Survival (or at least an attempt)
- Witcher 3
- Dragon Age
- Skyrim
- Subnautica
- Overwatch
- Every city builder out there
- Every survival game from 2017
The GPU will be upgraded to a 1060 or RX 970 later. I’ll add more RAM and upgrade the CPU, but I’ll rate this setup for now.
Price to performance is important too, especially with the latest versions.
CPU: Intel G460 3.6GHz (105$)
Motherboard: ASUS B250M K (100$)
GPU: ASUS GTX 660 OC Direct II (70$)
RAM: 4GB Corsair 2400 (40$)
PSU: EVGA 500W 80+ (50$)
Storage: 500GB old PC hard drive (free)
Case: Corsair Carbide Series Spec 1 Gaming Case Mid Tower (40$)
OS: Windows 10 (30$)
And...
The oldest Dell monitor available (free)
Ps...canadian dollars boys and girls
Total: $415 to $480 (QC taxes vary a lot)
What do you think? Am I in good shape or will I need more time?
Ehehe......???
Thanks for the feedback and let’s start the ratings!
Very basic setup. Many titles claim they require the 6300 at least. The 4300 falls short. Here is a preview Toms did about upcoming releases and the recommended minimum specs. Observe that the first title on the list, Dead Rising 4, mentions needing the 6300. Space Hulk: Deathwing states it needs the 8320. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard also lists the 6300 as necessary. There are numerous games that the 4300 can handle without problems, but if you aim to play the latest ones you'll face difficulties.

You're also running an outdated 760 chipset board and just 4GB of RAM. You may not have invested much in it, but I'm uncertain if it's sufficient for smooth 1080 gaming.

Also, this B150 board might encounter problems with the G4560 unless the BIOS has been updated. It's likely someone will purchase these components and fail to boot due to the BIOS not being sufficiently advanced for that CPU. This isn't necessarily a flawed configuration, just a reason why he didn't make that choice.
Also, as a B150 board that might face problems with the G4560 unless the BIOS is updated. It's possible someone will purchase those components and it won't boot because the BIOS on the board isn't recent enough to support that CPU. Not implying that's a bad configuration, just highlighting why he didn't make that change.
Alright, it has been updated to
CPU g4560
b250m mobo
4gb ddr4 2400
Now can I play games? And thanks for the clear assistance (;
OH and thanks 4745454b, I really want a solid gaming setup with room for future upgrades so I went with Intel.)
You mentioned this three times in a row, which is considered bumping and is not permitted here. Please edit your posts if you have more details.
