Randomly pause PC or cause BSOD
Hey there, I'm facing some odd behavior with my PC. It's been running maintenance mode since 2001, and this is the first time something like this happens. Freezes seem to happen without warning—sometimes under heavy use, other times just when I open MS Office. The strange part is that usually only the main application freezes while everything else works fine, and the mouse or keyboard remains responsive. Eventually, the whole system freezes and I have no choice but to power it down completely.
What I've tried so far:
- Ran CineBench/OCCT on CPU—everything normal
- Ran Furmark/3DMark on GPU—no issues detected
- Reset BIOS to defaults
- Adjusted RAM frequency from 4000 to 3200 MHz
- Removed two RAM sticks on the 4th slot
- CrystalDiskInfo works across all drives
- Installed a fresh Windows 11 on another SSD
- Checked Windows Event Viewer—only shutdown appears critical
Details about my setup:
- Intel i9 13900K
- Asus Strix Z790-A D4
- RTX 4090 Zotac Trinity
- Tridentz Royal DDR4-4000MHz 4x8GB
- 2x1TB NVMe SSDs (Samsung 970Pro)
- Evga 1300GT power supply
- Fully custom watercooling since January 2023
Anyone have ideas or solutions for this? I really need some guidance.
Visit C:\Windows\Minidump to see if any minidump files exist. If present, return to the Windows directory and transfer the entire Minidump folder to the Downloads folder (use your desktop if needed). Compress the copied folder and include it in a post. Please adhere strictly to instructions since Windows doesn't allow file manipulation there.
Do you recall the specific BSOD messages you encountered? New BSOD logs aren't always reliable for identifying issues, as they might not provide clear details.
