Randoming freezing on PC. Does not matter if on heavy load (gaming), or simply one-tab browsing
Here’s a rewritten version of your text, aiming for clarity and conciseness:
“I'm troubleshooting an issue with my gaming PC – specifically, random system crashes during gameplay. My build includes an i7-4770k processor, an EVGA GTX 1070 SC graphics card, 8GB of G.Skill RAM, a basic ASRock Z87 Pro4 motherboard, and storage consisting of a 128GB SSD and a 7200 RPM HDD powered by a Seasonic X-series 650V PSU.
I suspect a hardware fault, as the crashes occur intermittently and haven't been triggered by extreme temperatures or prolonged heavy use. I’ve ruled out the new GPU and SSD/HDD components, as the problem persists regardless of their installation. I’ve also thoroughly cleaned the PC to eliminate overheating. While I drove the system for extended periods in cold conditions (as suggested by other forum users), the issue still appears sporadically.
I'm seeking advice on potential causes and troubleshooting steps, given that the GPU and SSD/HDD are new additions.”
**Rewritten Text:**
This document will help troubleshoot a situation where freezing occurs. To better understand the problem, please answer these questions:
1. **What kind of freezing are you experiencing?** (e.g., system-wide, in specific applications)
2. **What steps do you take to resolve the freezing?**
3. **Does the freezing persist when running in Safe Mode?**
4. **Are there any particular applications where the freezing occurs?**
5. **When did the freezing start occurring?** (e.g., after a drive installation)
6. **Are your drivers up to date, and is your BIOS current?**
7. **Have you run memory tests (memtest) on your RAM modules?**
Providing answers to these questions will assist in diagnosing the root cause of the freezing issue.
What kind of freezing are you encountering? What do you have to do to overcome it? I may not be able to totally detail the type of freezing, I would say that the computer would not be responsive to any types of keyboard/mouse clicking, but the mouse (sometimes) moves around while nothing else is running. I simply wait until the freezing stops to continue with whatever I am doing.
Does the freezing still occur in safe mode? Have not been on safe mode long enough to make a final decision on that, and will try
Is it in any particular applications? Can be anything from windows explorer to browsing applications to video games
Did the issue only start occuring after the drive? The issue occurred before and after the new drive was installed
Are all drivers up to date - and is your BIOS up to date? Drivers are up to date and I believe BIOS is as well but will take a look
Have you ran memtest to check RAM modules for faults? Have ran memtest several times with no issues reported
Apologies I should have been clearer - i meant after your car drive for several hours. If it only started occuring after this, it's quite possible something internal could have come loose or moved slightly.
See if the issue still occurs in safe mode and check that your BIOS etc is all up to date, then feedback
Freezing did not occur after car drive but has been commonplace over the last year. Safe mode still freezes, and sometimes if the computer is asleep it will not wake up and display the screen, also sometimes needs several restarts as is stuck on black screen when booting up.
