Occasionally, every couple of weeks I encounter a vac authentication issue. With a brand new machine, no issues whatsoever—no malware, no suspicious downloads, no missing files. Sometimes it pops up during gameplay, usually in the middle of a session. It seems to be linked to a corrupted CS GO folder that got altered during the game. I figured this out after setting up a backup on a separate drive, which worked perfectly. When I tried to copy the backup into the C drive’s duplicate, it failed, suggesting another unexpected file was present. Anyone have a solution? Steam support claims it's a background service, so they recommend shutting everything down temporarily. I know that sounds reckless, but I assure you, it wasn’t my fault for triggering the problem.
