Random usage with maximum capacity.
I recently assembled this system a few months back, but the specs are on the lower side. It worked fine for about a month before suddenly freezing and stuttering unexpectedly. Programs would fail to load, and disc usage spiked dramatically. Running at full speed caused massive jumps in usage and latency spikes of over 800ms. Mostly it ran smoothly, handling tasks like Crystal Mark well. Occasionally, when starting or during gaming, it would hit maximum usage with high latency. The disc appears intact, showing only about half its capacity left. I’ve tried various fixes—disabling indexing, updating BIOS, checking for special drivers—but nothing seems to resolve the issue. It doesn’t look like a hardware failure since the symptoms are so erratic. I’m uncertain whether a BIOS update or a specific NVMe driver fix is needed. Someone might have faced similar problems. I’d prefer avoiding a full Windows installation, as I did twice recently after replacing a motherboard. My setup includes a Ryzen 5 7600X with 32GB DDR5 RAM, Teamgroup TM8FP6001T NVMe drive, and an RTX 5070 graphics card.
Also verify the NVME connection points on your boards—make sure they match ports like USB or PCI. On my previous PC, the USB headers caused delays during file copying until I adjusted the setup and switched to a different header.
You're using a PCIe Gen3 NVMe drive, which may not offer peak performance at this stage. The occasional stuttering could stem from a Windows update problem or another system-related issue. Begin by updating your BIOS to the most recent release. Download and install all available drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's website. A chipset-specific solution might help, but avoid installing unnecessary tools—most often they're bloatware. Once the BIOS is up to date, run a Windows update. If the problem continues, perform a DISM cleanup to verify and repair your Windows system image. You should likely resolve the issue by updating either the BIOS or all relevant drivers through the manufacturer's product support page.
