Uncertain if anyone noticed this before, I recently got a new PC that’s been struggling with stability. I’m curious if anyone here would help me organize my next troubleshooting plan? Key details: CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 7603, Motherboard – Gigabyte B650I, RAM – Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6400 (32GB), Graphics – Nvidia 5070 TI 16GB OC, Power Supply – Corsair SF Series 850, Storage – Kingston NV3 M.2 2TB, Case – Fractal Terra. Problems include random black screens, intermittent shutdowns during operation, and no error logs after recent changes. No BSoD appears. Often happens while watching videos online or in Steam previews. So far I’ve tried: checking nvlddmkm.sys logs, uninstalling and reinstalling Nvidia drivers, removing utilities and fast boot settings, disabling hardware acceleration in Steam, giving full control to the driver files, adding a registry setting for delay. The machine runs smoothly when idle—temperatures stay low even in demanding games, and it’s nearly silent. I’m not concerned about overheating. After a restart, the event viewer shows “unexpected system shutdown.” I’m avoiding sending an RMA to Nvidia because it would be costly and time-consuming. My goal is to rule out other causes first. Possible next steps: log everything non-gaming through the graphics card, try disassembling and rebuilding the system in a full tower case to check if the PCIe bridge is needed, or see if others with similar GPUs have faced these issues. Who else has a 50XX GPU experiencing this? What have you attempted?

Consider reverting the NVIDIA driver to earlier releases, as the newest versions are quite unstable.

I think there might be a problem I've encountered before with your motherboard's PCIe version, which seems to restrict the connection between CPU, motherboard, and GPU. In some cases, risers can play a role. Make sure you're using the most recent UEFI version first. Try forcing PCIe 4.0 in the 16x port.

Occasionally I notice fast RAM operating at standard settings. It's always worth checking.

The place I purchase components from in the UK assembles all their systems using Corsair RAM. I believe Corsair is a good choice because it guarantees you get parts with reliable timing.

On AM4 they were frequently reported to have compatibility problems... They also removed the device initially due to B-die failures, and later replaced it with a Hynix unit (those were consistently the troublesome ones). Often just swapping them out with Gskill resolved many mysterious issues... Using the default speeds was also an option. I’m not claiming they’re all bad, but it definitely appears they’re compromising on quality and care. Ps: builders usually opt for inexpensive, "good enough" options, so I’m unsure how much of a guarantee there is.
