Hey everyone, I recently set up my new rig six months ago and have faced some unexpected hard hangs. It usually happens without any BSOD—just a few times total. Whenever the PC is idle with Chrome open, I need to power down the PSU for about ten seconds before turning it back on to get the system to boot. This has occurred during games and even when nothing is running. I ran Memtest with no issues, but when I disabled the XMP1 profile to use default RAM speeds, it caused a hard lock within ten seconds of starting Windows 10. Anyone have any ideas about why disabling XMP1 might lead to these crashes? Here’s what my setup looks like: a 9900k stock Kraken x62 AIO Asus ROG Z390-I with 16GB G.Skill Trident 3200 DDR4 RAM (XMP1 enabled triggers random crashes under load and when idle), an 1TB Samsun 970 NVMe SSD, a Corsair H55 Corsair SF750 PSU, and a NZXT H200 case. I’m using Windows 10. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated!

The information provided is limited. Based on what we have, the nzxt 200 appears to be designed for AIO water cooling and likely has minimal airflow. It may be intended for passive cooling. I suspect heat management could be a concern, but other factors might be involved. Could you clarify what components you're trying to cool? What temperatures are you observing?

The information provided is limited. Based on what we have, the nzxt 200 appears to be designed for AIO water cooling and likely has minimal airflow. It may be intended for passive cooling. I suspect heat management could be a concern, but other factors might be involved. Could you clarify what components you're trying to cool? What temperatures are you observing?

I'm testing the specs by using a Kraken x62 AIO on the CPU and an NZXT G12 setup with an AIO for the 2080ti. The CPU reaches 67°C under Prime, while the GPU stays below 63°C. Even when idle with just Chrome running, it doesn't overheat, and I haven't noticed any crashes during games or benchmarks.

I'm testing the specs by using a Kraken x62 AIO on the CPU and an NZXT G12 setup with an AIO for the 2080ti. The CPU reaches 67°C under Prime, while the GPU stays below 63°C. Even when idle with just Chrome running, it doesn't overheat, and I haven't noticed any crashes during games or benchmarks.

Patience is wasted—test with a single RAM stick, separate slots, and compare performance with and without the XMP profile.

I think the issue might be with the RAM or motherboard. Memtest isn't always accurate. My memory was poor this year, yet my RAM still cleared tests well. Luckily I had two 4GB sticks at 2400MHz that I could replace for more testing. Consider placing each stick in both RAM slots.

I understand the problem with the CPU cache being clocked too high. Have you verified this in your ASUS BIOS? On my Extreme4, the cache was 4.7 GHz out of the box. For that speed, I need at least 1.328 GHz under load to keep things stable. But if the cache is too fast, the PC freezes severely even when idle or during random operations.
