You're experiencing intermittent Ethernet drops, even though the connection usually works. Your ISP confirmed no issues on their side and sent a technician who replaced your router. It seems the problem might be with the cable you're using—it's exposed to high temperatures (45-50°C). Before upgrading to an outdoor-rated model, consider testing the existing cable in a cooler environment to see if the drops persist.

They claim they can only handle rolls of 1000ft, not implying the run length is 1000ft. To clarify the concern, it's definitely feasible and probable. The outdoor cables are designed with UV protection, while standard ones lack this feature and tend to become brittle, increasing breakage risk and exposing wires over time. I’d aim to check your current setup as it is and determine if any issues exist.

I’ll take a look at it—I just assumed it would run slowly or fail outright, but it won’t hurt to try. In my area I couldn’t locate one easily unless I import it and patience isn’t something I possess. I might be able to find it if I shop around, but I don’t have the time for that.

Connect in mind. Probably you won’t have to take such a path.

What type of internet connection are you using? Temperature can definitely impact coax-based systems. Regarding the Ethernet cable, should it be installed above or below ground? If it's above ground, is it protected against UV exposure? Prolonged sun exposure can degrade the sheathing over time, and without UV protection, the cable typically lasts only a short period.

Others suggested this might be caused by the outdoor installation of the cable. Unless it's a 'direct burial' setup or another weather-resistant Ethernet option, and it's exposed to direct sunlight, it’s likely damaged. Even with UV protection, high temperatures between 45-50°C can harm the cable surface. Also, check if the physical connections outside are intact; they may need reattachment. If you must rerun the wire, running it inside conduit would offer better protection from environmental factors.

Thanks all for the feedback! I tried a brief new wire when placing my laptop near the router, and there were no signal drops—so the issue must be the cable. I placed an outdoor-rated one.
