Random freezing, need assistance!
Hi everyone, I’m at a loss for solutions. My system runs MSI Gaming Trio 4090 with a Z690 motherboard, 32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (DDR13790K), and a W11 case. Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve experienced random freezes in games. The screen freezes, audio plays briefly, then the PC restarts or I manually reset it. I’m not running overclocked settings. I can sustain P95 performance for extended periods, and both MemTest and Heaven & Superposition passed successfully. The only issues come from GPU tests on OCCT. I’ve cleaned up my Windows installation, reinstalled Nvidia drivers, replaced the power supply, and used the original cables. My new motherboard is in place, but I’m not sure if it’s the motherboard or the GPU that’s causing the problem. I’m leaning toward a GPU fault. Since I need a GPU, MSI can send a replacement to me. They’re asking for $3,990 on my credit card and will refund once they get the new GPU. I’d appreciate any guidance.
Where are you based? Even in Canada, where prices tend to be high, the MSI Gaming X Trio costs around $2400 or less. I didn’t know which games you’re playing or what monitor you have, but what I’d do is purchase an RX6600 or a similar budget card (I saw one under $300) that runs smoothly at 1080p or slightly lower. That way, you avoid running out of your graphics card for free while MSI delays updates and you have a backup option in case needed. Just my thoughts.
