Random FPS fluctuations in Doom Eternal occur occasionally.
Hello everyone, I just purchased DOOM Eternal on Steam. My system specs are: Intel i7 6700 CPU, ROG RTX2070 GPU, 16GB RAM, 2560x1080 UltraWide monitor at 75Hz. Unfortunately, the game isn't running smoothly for me because of frequent frame drops down to single digits. These drops happen unexpectedly whether I'm moving through a straight path or during intense combat. When it's stable, I usually see around 150 fps. I'm using the Ultra nightmare preset with Gsync disabled. Additionally, I'm experiencing some screen tearing issues. Anyone have suggestions? Edit: I've confirmed my drivers are up to date and checked the game files in Steam.
Are there similar issues at lower resolutions? Or is it just extremely difficult? The tearing problem can be resolved using vsync.

It might be your computer's storage issue, as many current games lag on solid-state drives due to slow texture loading times.
It doesn't really make a difference, but I'm playing the same game. I'm using an RTX 2060 and it runs smoothly for me. I had to lower the settings because there wasn't enough VRAM. (6GB)
I've been attempting to utilize the overlay but haven't identified any clear cause for such significant performance issues. Occasionally the game runs smoothly for several minutes, yet other times it fails after just ten minutes due to heavy lag. Sometimes the delay disappears after a short pause, while at other times I need to terminate the process via Task Manager. Yes, Ultra Wide Band is optimal =P The game is running on a slow hard drive, which seems unusual since this is the only one among about 50 installed that behaves this way.
I've encountered the same problem. The game operates smoothly at around 165 fps for most of the session, but then abruptly drops to roughly 15 fps. Switching between tabs and returning to the game restores the original frame rate. It's quite bothersome. Have you discovered a lasting solution? I'm using an SSD, so hardware isn't the cause. My graphics card is an RTX 2080 Ti with maximum settings.
