I haven’t been doing normal activities lately, but suddenly I experienced huge lag spikes while playing Counter Strike Global Offensive. The game would freeze for 3 to 7 seconds, and my CPU was running at 90%. On other times, especially when I disabled certain settings like Game DVR on Windows 10, the PC struggled to maintain 60 FPS. It’s been a while since I updated anything, and I haven’t scanned my system with Malwarebytes Pro. My machine has an Intel Core i7 4970K and a GTX 980 Ti with 6 GB RAM. I’m wondering if this is normal or if something is wrong. When I play CSGO, I don’t notice much CPU usage, but I’m not sure what’s causing the issue. Could you help clarify?

You might want to check the game cache and see if it assists (in Steam, right-click CSGO, properties, then Local Files tab, and verify game cache). Also, if you're familiar with GeForce, turn off the sharing option.

it doesn’t make sense to turn off the share feature if it hasn’t caused issues before. I’m willing to test it anyway. Also, after cleaning my PC, my CPU usage jumped from 2% to 30%, suggesting a possible client-side issue rather than game performance.

I mentioned this after recalling an issue where a recent driver caused low FPS and stuttering in games due to performance problems. I’m not sure if the fix was implemented.

I might need to examine that since it’s something I haven’t considered before. It seems like Nvidia recognizes my enthusiasm, and I’ll follow up after reviewing the latest update. If I locate the version with the share bug, I’ll let you know.

Good luck, please try to locate a fix—I don’t feel like I can offer further assistance anymore. It’s odd that Steam is consuming such high CPU. My client stays consistently low, maybe 0-1%, which strongly suggests something is amiss.

I don’t think I need all that, so I’d just clear everything and begin over. Thanks for the NVIDIA tip!
