I recently assembled a new computer over the weekend. It began with unexpected crashes that forced a black screen and required a restart. I ran stress tests using Cinnebench and FurMark; my thermal performance held up and there were no crashes during those sessions. Most failures occurred while playing games, which I think resolved by swapping in fresh CPU parts—I haven’t experienced this issue again since. After the replacement, I now randomly crash to desktop within any game, whether it’s League of Legends or Forza Horizon 5. Troubleshooting steps included using DDU to uninstall drivers, reinstalling GPU and Intel drivers, enabling/disabling down clocking for the GPU. I also tried disabling it and adjusting BIOS settings. Someone at work suggested a forum; I’m unsure about my current BIOS but plan to update once back home. I’ve attempted running games alone with all other apps closed, but crashes persist. Updated system details: Windows 11, Intel i7-12700K, MSI Pro B660, M.2 Seagate Barracuda 2TB, BIOS version E7D59IMS.110 (built 03/04/22). If you have any additional info or need edits, feel free to let me know. Edited January 31, 2023 by frostynebula

To simplify the details, consider these points:
1. Did you replace all components with new ones?
2. Did you use Windows 11 from a USB drive or upgrade from Windows 10?
3. Were all drivers and firmware from the motherboard website installed?
4. How is your GPU powered?
5. When did the crashes begin—before games started or after? If after, which game launcher?
6. Is your BIOS set to default or were changes made outside XMP?
7. Does a single RAM stick cause crashes?
8. Are you using an integrated GPU or the 4070Ti?

All systems are fresh.
Windows 11 was transferred from USB.
All drivers and firmware were updated.
The GPU has two 8-pin connectors for the power adapter without any major bends.
MSI Ventus 4070ti was installed correctly.
After benchmarking, I installed all games and exited early.
No changes were made to the BIOS, not even the fan curve.
No RAM stick was tested; results will be updated later.
Integrated graphics were not tried.

Is there anything unusual happening? You seem to hear sounds even after the screen goes dark? Does the system ever stop and start again? Have you performed any memory testing? I’m not familiar with Silicon Power RAM, I mostly rely on G.Skill.

haven't run a memtest yet, just starting with PC troubleshooting. past builds were smooth. I was honest about saving some RAM. monitors don't go black and audio stays working. Discord friends can still hear me. Just got home and removed a stick of RAM. The first day it was black screen and restarted but hasn't happened since I replaced the cooler with fresh paste. Also updated the BIOS version and build date in the post.

I ran a memtest using both sticks with Windows Memory Diagnostic installed and everything checked out. After reinstalling RAM and putting the side panel back on, I got a VGA debug LED when trying to boot. Opening the panel and adjusting the power adapter cord resolved the issue, so it might be related to the adapter.

It might be a frayed wire in the cable or it could be misaligned in the card.
