I'm sharing this on Reddit to gather some advice. Recently I upgraded my PC and faced an unexpected problem. It came with an AsRock B450M-HDV R4.0 board, a Ryzen 3 2200G, and a Ryzen 9 5900X. I added an ARC A750 and a Thermalright Frost Spirit 140 for cooling. After updating the BIOS to version 4.90, the system worked fine until last night when it would shut down right after launching Windows. I switched to a 500W PSU from EVGA and the issue disappeared during browsing and Discord. When trying to boot CS2 for comparison, the PC crashed again. It seems the problem started with downloading the update for Phasmaphobia and then launching the browser. Temperatures were normal, but I ran a SFC scan and it reported fixes. The Windows event log showed many errors, though none clearly linked to the issue. Any tips would be appreciated.

Perform a complete setup of the drive, including the USB storage that starts the OS. Then verify the installation process appears on the bootable USB.

Who came up with the plan to place the strongest power drawing warmest Ryzen destroyer of VRM-s on a board that doesn’t even have cooling? It’s terrible, my friend. Just flash the newest BIOS. Version 1.2.0.6 isn’t considered a solid AGESA. And add some fans to push air across the VRM-s. Consider upgrading the board or lowering the CPU.

Sure thing! The price of 250 on Amazon makes it an unusual pick. I didn’t intend to upgrade the motherboard, but if necessary, I’ll consider it. The current non-beta version is 4.90 according to what I know.

Well, the update didn't help much. It seems I'll have to go on a costly trip the next day.

Choosing a 5700X or 5700X3D should be fine on that board. The 5900X poses issues. You might still be within the return period? The 5900X offers better productivity but struggles with gaming, similar to a Ryzen 5600 in most scenarios.

i noted the issue because a win 10 driver problem could lead to disk corruption. i had to use the command prompt to erase it before installing the operating system. it took some time to resolve the matter.
