Ran overclocked using Ga-970A-DS3P, Fx 8350
I want to boost my FX 8350 to a minimum of 4.8Ghz on the GA-970A-DS3P motherboard. I'm trying to squeeze more performance out of my R9 Fury X when running CPU-intensive games. My current setup includes:
Fx 8350
Corsair h100i v2 water-cooled
16gb ram
R9 fury x
Corsair 750watt psu
GA-970A-DS3P
Could this work with what I have? And how challenging would it be, since this is my first overclock attempt? Thanks!
The mobo features a 4+1 power phase configuration, the VRMs aren't very efficient, so I'd aim for about 4.4 and keep monitoring temperatures continuously.

Would you say to upgrade my motherboard to say an Intel i7 6600k or wait until the release of the new Zen chipset?
You might wait for Zen, though I’m hoping it will truly be 'new' and present a real challenge to Intel. My expectations aren’t very high, as AMD has a track record of promoting CPUs, GPUs, and other components as top performers, only for them to fall short or become simple rebrands of older models.
