Hello everyone, I own a 5900x system with an Aorus Pro WiFi X570 motherboard and four sticks of Corsair Vengeance RGB RAM. Two have Samsung chips while the other two use Micron. All four share the same part number. When I power it on or do manual overclocking, the RAM stays at 2133MHz, which is confusing. The BIOS says I applied it, but the right side still shows 2133MHz. I’m a bit lost and would appreciate any suggestions or solutions.
Mismatched RAM modules often cause problems when they don't function properly together. This situation is fairly typical. AMD tends to have more compatibility issues with RAM compared to Intel, which means combining these two problems in a single setup is unfortunately common.
You may need to adjust the RAM settings in BIOS manually, a problem I experienced too, so setting it automatically helped. When you have two RAM sticks with varying speeds, the CPU memory controller usually operates at the lowest speed common, and AMD also tends to have compatibility challenges with RAM.
You're using two memory kits, each with different characteristics—one double-sided from Micron and the other single-sided from Samsung. If you remove just one kit, it might affect performance. Running XMP could still work, but stability and speed may vary depending on which side is used.
It's a solid 5900x performance, and I've tested it with my 3080 without any overclocking tricks. I enjoy playing Warframe a few hours each week, though the game tends to crash to the desktop when XMP is turned on. This isn't specific to AMD—it works just fine on Intel as well. You can definitely feel the difference, but in everyday use or games you probably won't notice it.
