Ramram assist 3900x
Ramram assist 3900x
I haven’t built an AMD system before, so I’m not sure about RAM compatibility. I’m considering two DDR4 16GB sticks at 3200 MHz and need some advice or tips—it would really help if you could point me in the right direction.
Don't stress about QVL lists—your 3200 cl16/14 setup or a 3600 cl16 should work fine. Have you already got this board? It's decent and can manage a 3900x, but there are other boards at similar prices that perform much better.
I received the same board but the B450 (likely a B550 model) was fixed. I faced a problem where RAM didn't function stably even at 2933 MHz. I adjusted timings, settings, updated drivers and BIOS, but it only worked stably on the 2866 stable version. I tested it on a friend's PC and it worked fine on the 3200 without any changes. This suggests my board is the issue.
I haven't purchased it yet, but it was suggested as a durable option. What kind of board are you looking for?
Budget? For an mATX setup, the b550 mortar and tuf plus look reasonable. The mortar relies on eight ISL99360 units in pairs for the vcore, while the tuf plus uses eight sic638s. These are separate boards. There might be other factors at play here. Edited September 13, 2020 by TofuHaroto
