I'm setting up a gaming PC with an AMD RYZEN 5 3600 and RTX 2060 Super. I've picked G. Skill Ripjaws (2 x 8GB), but I'm curious about cheaper RAM options for gaming or if I should upgrade to 32GB (two 16GB sticks, or four 8GB). My main games are Rainbow Six Siege, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Minecraft with shaders and textures. Any advice would be appreciated.

r3600 doesn't handle quad channel, which means 2x16 and 4x8 would perform similarly. However, you can still achieve fast RAM performance. For the games mentioned, 3200mhz works well with Ryzen processors.

Ryzen 3000 performs optimally with just two RAM slots when aiming for maximum speeds. Using four slots might limit performance to around 2666MHz or lower.

G.Skill introduced new memory modules for Ryzen 3000 processors named TridentZ Neo, priced lower than Ripjaws (assuming Samsung B-die variants). Two 16GB sticks should usually suffice for everyday use. I chose two 16GB units because I was transitioning from a 32GB system and frequently run virtual machines.
