Ram speeds, amount, and temperature
Ram speeds, amount, and temperature
I have 32 gbs of RAM (four 8gb sticks) meant for video editing which was postponed. I've been experiencing issues and was advised to remove two sticks to lower the heat. Now I'm wondering about choosing a specific speed in BIOS—like 1680 (with a base clock of 220)—which makes it run at 840 or if I enable auto, the motherboard selects the best speed, which appears to be 420. Picking 420 seems to significantly reduce heat compared to running two sticks at 840. The question is whether using four sticks at 420 would match the performance of two at 840, and if adding more sticks could achieve similar speeds.
Overclocking ram seems almost useless, just keep everything in and it'll work fine
Consider keeping the dram frequency in auto mode so the motherboard decides, or set it to 1680 for a 840 MHz output.
