You can still use a CPU that supports DDR4-2666 MT/s even if other options claim higher speeds, as long as the CPU itself is compatible with your motherboard's specifications.

your sentence is confusing youre talking about ram speeds then changed the topic to cpu. if you mean that u can use any of the cpu then yes unless the cpu has a different socket than your motherboard

It is possible to use memory that runs slower than the CPU's maximum supported speed. Compatibility issues are not a concern here.
