RAM slots for ramRAM devices
Hello and good day to you guys, I have this problem on my PC that if I use RAM slots 1 and 3 PC wont boot up and will just beep 5 times, if I use RAM slots 2 and 4 PC is just booting fine My motherboard is Gigabyte Z370-HD3 (Rev 1.0) I tested this combinations : Single Channel / Single Stick Slot 1 = not booting Slot 3 = not booting Slot 2 = booting Slot 4 = booting Dual Channel / 2 Sticks Slot 1 + Slot 2 = not booting Slot 3 + Slot 4 = not booting I haven't tried other combinations, also sometimes it boots with dual channel but it’ll BSOD after a couple of hours then if I try to restart it, the same 5 beeps and no post happens again. Also I can confirm that both of my RAM sticks are working just fine, I tested it on another system with MemTest. I attached a picture of what slots are working if my explanation confuses you guys.
Have you considered swapping out your CPU? Poor pin contact might cause memory issues. Also, understanding the RAM models you have can be beneficial.
The motherboard's QVL List is quite old (from 2018) and likely not included, even though I have the most recent BIOS.
Here’s a revised version of your update:
I wanted to share the progress on my issue. By taking out the CPU, applying WD-40 Electronic Contact Cleaner to the CPU slot, re-seating it, and reapplying the CPU, everything is now functioning properly. I plan to perform memory tests with XMP disabled at this stage, then redo the test with XMP enabled to compare the results. I hope this helps others facing similar challenges. The product I used is as follows. Just a note, my PC is running smoothly after six memory tests on both XMP off and XMP on, which definitely made a difference. I’m glad this post might assist someone else.
