Hey everyone! I’m reaching out for some guidance. My PC has a dead RAM slot, and it won’t recognize the memory even though I’m using the secondary dual channel. I know it’s not the best setup, but I’m trying to switch the primary dual channel to the second slot. The issue is that the second slot in the primary channel doesn’t work at all. After swapping the sticks, it now works fine in another slot. My system runs an Intel i5 9600K with a Z370 motherboard, 2x 8GB RAM at 2400Hz, a GTX 2070, and I’m getting a 700W power supply. Any tips or advice would be super helpful! Thanks!
Additional details could be useful, like specifications and previous attempts. Is it only with one type of RAM module, or multiple? If not, try clearing out the RAM slot using a small burst of compressed air, inspect for any particles inside, or check for bent pins. Also, attempt to remove the CPU, examine for any bent pins on the CPU or socket (depending on whether it's AMD or Intel), and reinsert it.
I’ll include more information. The current setup isn’t functioning, so I’m trying to switch things out. Please let me check the CPU next.
Likely a faulty link on the pins or socket near the RAM area on the CPU, good that it functioned.
