Hello
I noticed selling two of the original four 8 gig sticks would have been a bit excessive for my gaming PC. So I switched from 4x8 to 2x8 Corsair Platinum DDR4 3000 mhz units.

Other details (if you need them):
Gigabyte Aorus Ultra gaming v1 motherboard
Intel core I5-8600K
1070ti Asus Rog Strix advanced
550W 80+ gold power supply

Before reducing RAM, my system ran smoothly at around 4.8Ghz with overclocked settings (1.275V) and XMP enabled. Now, even with dual-channel usage of the two sticks, it struggles to maintain speed. After saving and rebooting from BIOS, the machine powers on, briefly enters an idle state, then shuts down before restarting to BIOS to reset defaults.

I've tried:
- Clearing CMOS
- Resocketing RAM modules
- Updating BIOS

Any suggestions? Your feedback would be very helpful.

Have you attempted to start with a single RAM stick? Are your sticks correctly placed in the dual channel slots? For many boards, this is typically the farthest slot from the CPU socket and the second one from it.

Attempting once more, maybe the installation wasn't correct. Appreciate your feedback : )

Hello once more! Your guidance helped me finally get it working. The key was starting with just one stick of RAM, and then using the BIOS to match my old spec. Once that was done, I could add the second stick and still achieve the same outcome. Thanks a lot!

It's no issue at all that you're getting started!
