The mixed outcomes trace back to DDR1. It's unclear until you test it. The sticks might synchronize at a slower speed than 800mhz.

The statement is mostly accurate. Mixing a 4GB and an 8GB stick typically results in the 8GB stick being split into two 4GB partitions. One partition operates in dual-channel mode, while the other runs in single-channel mode.

It isn't something I'm familiar with. It should be either single channel or dual channel. You'd likely want to use the dual channel option.
