Upgrading your RAM could definitely improve performance, especially for gaming or regular tasks. The increase from 2400MHz to 3600MHz and the higher capacity might make a noticeable difference with a Ryzen 7 5700X.

I’d like to perform some simple locking checks before purchasing an upgrade. Do you have a RAM module, and what’s the cost of the upgrade?

It can improve performance by about 5%. If you require additional memory, you'll cease to save space on the page.

It doesn't seem like the best idea. My colleague mentioned it would make a significant impact during gameplay, so I'm thinking about switching to AM5 in a few years instead of buying another Ddr4 setup that's only five percent better.

Try adjusting speeds manually in BIOS. Aim for around 3200 cl6. Ample RAM should handle the load.
