MERGED QUESTION
question from ole.martin.ibsen : "Overclocked RAM, crashes games. MemTest shows zero errors."
ole.martin.ibsen
Hi.
I recently attempted to overclock my RAM using A-XMP, but at 2933MHz PUBG and other titles the system would freeze or crash unpredictably. After running a MemTest, it reported no errors after four passes. I have no prior experience with overclocking and my CPU is running at its default speed. Should I consider disabling A-XMP and manually adjusting the clock speed, which might improve game stability?
I assume my motherboard can support overclocked RAM up to 3400MHz, while my RAM is 3000MHz.
Components
: MSI B350 Tomahawk, Socket-AM4
RAM
: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000MHz
Do you have the precise model of your RAM listed in the motherboard specifications?
Ryzen processors tend to be quite strict with RAM, especially when overclocked.
I’m uncertain. These are the exact parts I’m using:

question about overclocking
I tried increasing my RAM speed with A-XMP, but at 2933MHz in PUBG and other games would freeze or crash randomly. After four MemTest passes, I got zero errors. I’m new to overclocking and my CPU is running at normal speeds. Should I turn off A-XMP and set the RAM manually? Could that improve stability?
I think my motherboard can support overclocked RAM up to 3400MHz, but my RAM is only 3000MHz.
Components
- Motherboard: MSI B350 Tomahawk, Socket-AM4
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000MHz
Are you certain your RAM model appears on the motherboard specifications?
Ryzen systems are quite strict about RAM, especially when overclocked.
I’m not sure. Here are the links to my parts:

https://www.komplett.no/product/893833/d...irect=true?noredirect=true#
My exact RAM model is CMK16GX4M2B3000C15, an AMD model that doesn’t seem listed.

Should fit compatibility requirements,
PCPartPicker part list
/
Cost analysis by seller
Mainboard:
MSI - B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Board
($86.98 via Newegg)
Memory:
Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000
($162.99 on Amazon)
Overall total comes to $249.97
Included costs cover shipping, taxes, and applicable discounts

The QVL selection often has few options. My RAM isn’t listed either, yet it works smoothly at 3200 MHz with DOCP settings on my MSI gaming pro. What DOCP value were you using?

Adjust SOC voltage slightly too. Keep it under 1.1V.

QVL list is generally small; my RAM isn’t listed either, but it worked at 3200 MHz with DOCP on MSI gaming pro. What DOCP timing did you use?
All settings except voltage are auto. I was advised to run RAM at X-AMP (Profile 1) without specific timing adjustments since it performed well.
