Ram OC
Ram OC
Hello, I have a question. I set up my PC on Black Friday using a Ryzen 2600X and an Asrock Steel Legend B450 motherboard. It has 16GB RAM (two 8192MB modules) with a Patriot Viper Steel DDR4-3600 DIMM. The issue is that I didn’t check the motherboard specifications carefully, and the RAM I bought isn’t listed on the QVL. Now my RAM only works at 2133 MHz, and I’d really like to reach its full speed. Can someone assist me?
Consider the next lower XMP profile, or use a slower one if needed. Zen+ performs adequately at 3200 MHz. You might also explore the Ryzen DRAM calculator link https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ryz...alculator/
I’m not sure how to operate the Dram Calculator yet. I’ve watched some videos, but the downloaded version doesn’t include the down buttons.
Configure XMP settings, adjust timings to CL16-18-18. Turn off power-down mode. Adjust memory voltage to 1.36, change frequency to 2933mhz and check functionality. If successful, verify stability. Proceed to BIOS, configure post-window at 3000mhz and test.
QVL doesn't specify memory speeds at 3600 MHz. They reach 2400 MHz at the highest, with QVL optimized for stock speeds around 1066 or 2133 MHz. For Ryzen systems, premium kits tend to be costly and many users prefer not to invest in B-DIE. Usually, B-DIE options are 3600 CL16-16-16 and cost around $200 for the Trident Z kit. The best choice is to swap in memory and upgrade to higher performance RAM, either from the QVL line or B-DIE, which offers more flexibility.
