I checked my setup earlier and realized I had a big RAM upgrade that didn’t appear in the QVL. My IT buddy warned me about it, and Patriot suggested it might not fit. I switched to Patriot Viper Steel 2x32GB DDR4 3600 CL18 RAM. It performed well at first. My son’s build uses a similar configuration but with 2x16GB, which also worked fine. Both lack availability on the QVL. When I needed a replacement for my XFX GC, I had to use my iGPU for gaming. Eventually, I noticed something odd in BIOS—XML was off. After restarting and launching Destiny 2, performance dropped significantly compared to when XMP was enabled. The issue seemed tied to a high frequency setting (2660) and a CAS latency of 19. I’m puzzled because the specs on the site didn’t match my expectations, especially since I was expecting 3600 MT/s at 1800 MHz and CL18. The timings listed were 19-19-19-42, which seems better than what I saw. If I ignore the minor slowdowns and the missing timings, it might be worth upgrading. Otherwise, I’ll stick with what I have and see how it holds up.

Incorrect, 19 is even worse. Opt for manual adjustments rather than relying on automatic settings.

It's due to the 22s reducing to 19. When you average the first three timings—skipping the fourth since it didn<|pad|>, the result improves. CL isn't the whole picture. I haven't attempted manual adjustments because I'm unsure how to do it.

Some revisions may not support XMP properly, and certain Patriot models might have misconfigured timings that reduce performance compared to JEDEC standards. Try entering the frequency, voltage, and main clock settings manually to determine if it improves results.
