Ram not able to run on XMP
Ram not able to run on XMP
I just upgraded my PC to the coffee-lake platform. It still posts, but after opening many things or playing games it freezes and then restarts. Here’s my setup: CPU i7 8700k, motherboard asrock z370 extreme 4, RAM Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX 2x8GB at 3200, SSD crusial ssd 120 GB, GPU Msi 1070 gaming x, power supply Coolermaster 750w. Any advice on what to try next? (Update) my bios version is 1.30, it was 1.40 but somehow that version got deleted.
Windows memory diagnostic is not very reliable. Try using memtest86 or memtest86+ tools, as recommended by I and Geofelt. It's strange that a system wouldn't start after only a small change in memory voltage, like .05v. In fact, the system might become more stable, though higher memory temperatures could cause problems later. As mentioned before, it's often needed to boost or overclock the CPU to run high-speed modules, particularly when several are used at once. The memory controller is part of the CPU, and running the CPU at higher stable clock speeds can affect performance.
The brand and model of the CPU cooler are not specified. The CPU temperature during the freeze and reboot is not mentioned in the provided details.

Request for details about the CPU cooler brand and model, along with temperature readings during freeze and reboot events. Mentioned that freezing happens only when RAM is using XMP, not at default 2133MHz. Apologies, this was posted to the incorrect thread.
Darkbreeze:
Consider increasing the memory voltage by .05v in the bios. Remember to save your settings before exiting. You may also need to slightly overclock the CPU to run at 3200mhz, but start with adjusting the memory voltage first.
If that doesn't work, I recommend running Memtest86+ to check for bad modules.
I tried adjusting the voltage but it didn't boot properly.
Adjust your BIOS to the default (no overclocking).
Configure the RAM to a 3200 speed XMP profile.
Execute memtest86.
You should finish a full pass without any errors.
If errors appear, reach out to Corsair for an RMA.
Should the RAM pass tests, the issue likely stems from overclocking or default configurations.
I’m curious about what was included in the 1.4 BIOS update.
It often contains stability or RAM improvements.
Look up your ASRock forum for motherboard details.
Corsair forums might also provide relevant information.
The BIOS version 1.40 was likely removed because it introduced more issues, such as crashes and restarts, compared to the benefits it provided, like addressing the Spectre vulnerability type 2.

My Windows Memory Diagnostic test detected an error.
I will attempt it again on your recommended software later.
