My cousin's PC is being managed through MSI A320m Pro-5. We explored all possible settings in msconfig, regedit, and paging. In BIOS it detects both dimms but indicates 8GB of physical memory is available. Similarly, the System Information window displays a total physical memory of 16GB, yet shows only 7.95GB as usable with 5.89GB remaining. Specifics: CPU - Ryzen 5 1600, RAM - Hyper X Fury 8GB DDR4 at 2667MHz (x2), Motherboard - MSI A320m Pro-5. We confirmed the RAM sticks fit and functioned properly. It seems like you're checking if the device works with multiple slots. You could test each stick in a functional slot and verify it supports 8 gigabits even when only one is connected.
I experienced the same problem on a 1600X and went through all possible solutions. It really frustrated me. Ran 16 gigabytes in BIOS and 8 in Windows. Eventually, I had to pull out the CPU to check the pins and discovered a minuscule piece of plastic—about half the width of a hair and 1-2 mm long—trapped between them.
