Hello, I just installed a new computer for the first time, not my initial build, but this is my first attempt at overclocking with solid parts. Most components are working fine, though I’m struggling to push my memory to its listed speed. Anything above 3200 MHz causes instability. The system specs show a Gigabyte X570 motherboard, a Ryzen 3 3800X CPU (with Noctua Dh15 cooling), 32GB of G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4 at 3600 MHz CL16, and a 750W modular power supply.

I believe the issue might be with the motherboard itself—while the Gigabyte UD claims support for up to 4000 MHz overclock, it seems it can’t handle it. I’ve tried other options: enabling XMP failed with three beeps on the BIOS (memory parity error). Raising the memory speed to 3000 MHz also worked, but not 3200 MHz. Adjusting timings and voltage in the BIOS didn’t help much, and I disabled memory power-down mode without success.

I’ve already swapped out the memory—initially I used G.Skill RipJaws 3600, which also failed. After realizing it’s optimized for Intel systems (which I wasn’t aware of), I switched to an AMD Trident Z that gave similar results. So far, it’s just the RGB lighting issue.

Do you think the problem lies with the motherboard or something else I’m overlooking? Or have I made too many mistakes to list them all? It feels like the plan was to upgrade the graphics card and monitor later this year. The 5700 BIOS can run most games at ultra settings, up to 1440p at 60fps until then.

It's either 2x16GB or 4x8GB, depending on your setup.
