RAM continues to fail to operate at 3600MHz
I experienced a similar problem before. I have a Ryzen 9 5950x, a 3090 processor, and 64GB of RAM installed on a Gigabyte b550m-p pro. Recently, my two Teamgroup T-Force XTREEM 32GB modules were set to run at 2400MHz instead of the enabled 3600MHz. In BIOS I can enable XMP, but when I power on the system it still defaults to 2400MHz. Changing the speed manually causes a longer boot and delays during launch. Any suggestions on why this occurs or how to resolve it?
No alterations have been made recently. Adjusting speed manually will work without issues, though it may take longer.
I've already shared this before. The post works fine now—no problems after saving or exiting the BIOS. It only runs a bit longer.
I've faced the same issue with the Patriot PVS432G320C6K on my Asus Tuf Gaming B550-PLUS paired with the 5900X. The kit claims a max of 3200, but it won't reach that speed. I'm also using it at 2400, and I suspect it's related to a Zen 4 chipset.
Your configuration doesn't revert in BIOS? Try adjusting the DRAM voltage manually—raise it slightly if your RAM's rated voltage is 1.35V, for instance, to 1.355V. My setup includes a 5900x motherboard paired with two 16GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo modules (two sets of 32GB) using DDR4-3600 CL16 RAM on an MSI MPG X570S with carbon fiber case and Wi-Fi. It operates without issues.
Gskill is your go-to setup, especially with Ryzen. The OP’s team group might work sometimes but not always with Ryzen. Corsair can be tricky too. Occasionally, a RAM package that doesn’t suit Ryzen can still function if you tweak the voltage and turn off certain settings.
It might be related to the motherboard chipset, as it could influence performance. Certain chipsets may offer improved memory management features.
