You're dealing with an interesting setup. The 16GB stick was likely purchased separately from a bundled package, which might raise some questions. For gaming performance, running dual-channel is crucial for better speed. Combining the 8GB stick with three 4GB sticks in four slots could work if configured properly. This would give you a total of 20GB, potentially improving gaming experience. Just make sure the motherboard supports dual-channel configuration and that the RAM sticks are compatible.

As usual, merging RAM kits might or might not be effective, but if it works, everything will function properly. You’ll receive 16GB in dual-channel mode, and 4GB in single-channel, which increases the likelihood of success if you can secure a 1x8GB stick. Matching is recommended if possible.
