Hello, community! I've just acquired a 5950x and am trying to choose the right RAM. My existing setup is the G.SKILL Trident Z Neo 3800mhz C14, which worked fine at first but started showing blue screens after a while. After testing memtes86+, I noticed many errors before the first cycle even finished. I’m planning to return these and am now searching for an alternative. My motherboard is an Asus Crosshair VIII Formula x570, which should support up to 4800mhz RAM, but I need to be sure before purchasing a high-end kit. I’ve heard that latency plays a big role, but I wanted to ask what others think for getting the most out of this processor. According to some sources, my current configuration has better latency than most 4800mhz options I’ve seen. Maybe there’s more to consider beyond just raw numbers? This is my first AMD build in over ten years, and I want to optimize it fully. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Interestingly, the tool I'm using functions smoothly at 3600 @CL14 with no errors and four passes in memtest. The only thought that crosses my mind is that improving timing could be possible with another kit for a bit less cost.

AMD has assured a forthcoming microcode update that will simplify reaching higher memory speeds, particularly with 1:1 infinity fabric. I tested the kit at 3600Mhz initially, and after the update, I plan to run it at 3800Mhz. The current RAM is excellent, and there’s limited potential for further upgrades.

Testing memory speed on Ryzen is largely irrelevant unless it meets the required performance for a perfect 1:1 memory-to-IF ratio.
