Hello! I noticed your recent build with an RX570 and SSD for games like LoL, CS, and Valorant. Windows and BIOS are only showing 6 GB of RAM as usable, even though your motherboard lists all the sticks. It seems the issue might be related to frequency and timing matching. It might be the RAM modules that clash. With five 2GB sticks totaling 10GB, it could indicate two 2GB Adata units not functioning with the Corsair ones. Mixing RAM is usually problematic, though DDR3 sometimes worked fine. Do you have additional sticks to try? If the issue isn’t RAM compatibility, a faulty motherboard could be the cause. I often notice older or newer high-end boards that support quad channels but still have issues with single or dual channel slots.
According to @FRD, the rams aren't cooperating well with each other and/or the motherboard. When my rams don’t match up, the p5q board simply won’t post and displays an E1 code on my PCI debug card—indicating incompatible/error/bad timings. If you need a PCI debug card, it’s really helpful for checking and troubleshooting.
Also, since x58 depends on BCLK timing, you should use quality rams rather than generic ones. Generic rams work but will have limited BCLK timing. In my area, a 2x4GB 2400MHz kit costs around $35, while an 8GB 1600MHz generic stick is about $25. I also recommend upgrading to a better CPU; a quad-core i7 seems more suitable here compared to the 6-core Westmere Xeons, which are quite affordable.
I don’t have any additional devices to try. I can’t recall the previous time I restarted it, but I’m pretty confident it was just an MB issue.
Consider testing only Corsair and Adata sticks individually. Each should function on its own, though not together. With enough budget, an 8GB or 16GB RAM package might be worth it. You could also look for higher capacity Corsair options, but compatibility is unlikely. If I were you, I’d use eight sticks in quad channel mode.
