Ram Cache III disrupts my USB connections.
I recently purchased a brand-new computer and installed all the software from Armoury Crate, including "RAMCache III." Being new to this tech, I thought it would work smoothly with more RAM usage through VRAM space. (If not, let me know.) So I decided to give it a try, assuming my system could handle it. The issue began every time I connected an external hard drive—Windows File Explorer would freeze briefly, lag, then resume. In some instances, my keyboard, microphone, mouse, and wireless headset would disconnect once the explorer crashed, roughly half the time when reconnecting. When everything seemed fine, I encountered persistent "i/o device error" messages. I tested with a USB thumb drive, another USB thumb drive, and even a second external hard drive, but the problem persisted. I attempted various fixes—writing data, watching tutorials, adjusting BIOS settings, even lowering RAM speed—but nothing resolved it. Eventually, after uninstalling RAMCache III and testing again, everything worked perfectly. Now I’m still trying to figure out why this program caused such issues, hoping to use it without risking my new setup.
The program acts as a disk cache but isn't recommended to use. Windows handles this internally, yet there are problems with data integrity since it falsely reports files as written.
ASUS entered the scene for a reason, especially with multiple versions. It’s interesting to explore why they developed it and what challenges they faced along the way.
