RAM AM5 issue.
RAM AM5 issue.
I own an Asus X670E-A that came with 2X16 T Force 5600 CL32. The 2X32 Corsair Dom 6600 CL32 works fine with auto settings. I attempted to fit the T Force into other slots for a total of 96, but haven’t posted yet. I’m considering returning the Dom and buying another pair. Will it still post? Is it because I have multiple sticks or different models?
Trying to have AM5 post with four RAM sticks is quite challenging. We usually suggest using two RAM sticks instead of four for AM5. It's likely that four T Force RAM sticks won't work either. This is why we're seeing more 2x24GB and 2x48GB DDR5 sticks to achieve higher capacity with just two. Also, anything above 6000Mhz might not be stable. The optimal range is around 6000Mhz CL30.
A mix of approaches works best. Four sticks generally put a lot of strain on the Ryzen 7000 memory controller, making even identical kits unreliable; using different sticks makes things worse. Your particular setup adds complexity because it’s triple-rank memory, which is especially taxing on the controller, and likely the two kits differ in their memory ICs due to their differing speed requirements. This combination is tough to make function at decent speeds. Using 6600MT/s RAM on a Ryzen platform isn’t practical—it’s slower than a much cheaper 6000CL30 unit because of the extra latency penalty. Still, it might work if you’re willing to put in some effort. If you really need more memory, opt for a higher-capacity kit right away and avoid using four DIMMs, as it’s probably too frustrating to get it working properly. For 96GB, a 2x48GB kit is available on the 6000CL30 platform.
The constraint for RAM is it must be 1. Options include White, RGB, 6400 G Skill, or no speed increase. If scaling to 2X32 appears limited, the next viable choice is 6400 G Skill, which offers a $100 savings.
