I overlooked buying RAM before getting the motherboard. Checking the specs for RAM on the MSI X470 gaming pro carbon reveals up to 3200 MHz for the GSKILL Trident series. I bought a 3600 2x8GB kit and am curious—will it still fit or could there be any issues?

It should function, though the frequency might vary depending on the CPU.

The Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 7 3700X are different chips, so the 7 3700X wouldn't work directly on the 5 3600. You'd need a compatible motherboard and possibly a new CPU socket.

1. Don't upgrade.
2. It doesn't relate to the CPU.
3. MSI X470 gaming pro carbon isn't compatible with Ryzen 3000 unless the box has a label confirming it. Can the store modify the BIOS, or do you have an older processor?

The Ryzen third generation performs well with RAM overclocking. I believe you won’t face any problems—just open the BIOS, turn on D.O.C.P or XMP settings, and everything should work.

I'm close to outletPC, which lets them refresh the BIOS when necessary.
