Rainbow Six Siege consumes full processing power.
Recently, I purchased an MSI GS75 Stealth from Best Buy and quickly installed several games on it. However, I’m facing an issue with Rainbow Six Siege. Before proceeding further, here are my specifications: i7-8750H, 6-core RTX 2070 Max-Q, DDR4 2666, a random Toshiba NVMe 500GB SSD with 144 Hz refresh rate on the display. My concern is that I’m struggling to reach more than 100+ FPS. In Task Manager, the CPU usage is at 100% while my GPU stays between 50-60%. Usually, this would be a bottleneck, but it’s the only game causing this problem. Other titles like Fortnite and Overwatch run smoothly, using my GPU fully at 144+ FPS without exceeding 75% CPU. Adjusting settings hasn’t helped. Both Ultra and Low still give around 90 FPS with the CPU at full capacity. No background apps are running except Task Manager. The game is utilizing all my CPU power. I’ve tried enabling V-Sync and using Ubisoft’s FPS limiter in the games .ini file, but it didn’t work. I reached out to Ubi about this, but they dismissed it, saying my CPU couldn’t handle Siege. Thanks in advance for your help.
It makes sense to me. Using dual-channel memory could boost your CPU performance.
I've thought about switching to Dual Channel, but it doesn't seem to solve my issue. My old PC had a 6-core Ryzen 2600 and only used 40-50% during games, which is odd since I'm sure my laptop's CPU isn't much worse despite having the same number of cores—though the Ryzen does handle multitasking better.
It could have a clear impact. Performance may drop noticeably based on how the laptop's cooling and boost settings are configured. Which clocks are you seeing in the game? If there are no extra frame costs since your CPU is the bottleneck, boosting the graphics might be a good idea.
Your R5 2600 offers improved IPC, faster clock speeds, and dual-channel memory compared to the mobile i7.
