Curious about how others view the alpha if accepted. I avoid making full judgments right away, but some aspects will definitely stay the same. Overall, it shows a lot of promise. I had a good time playing it. The maps are solid. I expect more destruction and better visuals in future updates. My main worry is that players don’t focus on rescuing hostages—except when someone tries to do so. In my experience, most games turn into a rush-to-kill mode, similar to Call of Duty’s search-and-destroy style. I believe that’s more about player behavior than the game itself, but I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Really, hmm, I didn't know that. Well you aren't missing much. Its decent but has its issues.
I have some concerns about certain aspects of the game. Running a spray feels acceptable, but it doesn’t affect accuracy penalties, which removes the emphasis on marksmanship that matters for Rainbow Six. It’s challenging because the game is heavily CQB focused. VOIP suffers from poor quality and only shows available channels, making team coordination nearly impossible and stripping away tactical depth. The core objective becomes a straightforward assault on a room, with the enemy inside, turning matches into chaotic wall-crossing battles due to visible hit markers through walls. I understand these are my views during this build, and I hope improvements are made since it’s not the current Rainbow version.
I'm in the alpha as well, both my brother and I have played a lot of Rainbow Six: Vegas 1 and 2 back in the day and loved the tactical feel the game gave. Siege has almost none of that feel whatsoever. It feels like Battlefield and Rainbow Six had a kid and it leaned more on the BF side than the R6 side. There's no tactical feel other than the pre-plan phase and breaching paths. Gun play feels a lot like CoD/BF(run and gun). Honestly, I'm not impressed and have no interest in the game currently(I did have some before). I'll be waiting for TotalBiscuit's "WTF Is" when the game officially releases in supposedly 2015, but I am 99% sure this will be a "pass" for me. My brother feels the same way. I played for at least a couple hours, my brother couldn't play it for more than 5 minutes, he was just too disappointed. Also I know this is an alpha and a lot can change, but this is Ubisoft we're talking about here...
I'm also in the Closed Alpha. I played under an hour and quickly lost interest. I enjoyed classic Rainbow Six titles like Raven Shield. For me, Rainbow Six revolves around strategy and planning, which didn't engage me. The Alpha mostly focused on barricading or exploration without much real coordination. I appreciated Raven Shield for its detailed mission setup and pre-planning. SWAT games from Sierra (maybe?) shared a similar vibe. I know the closed Alpha emphasizes multiplayer and single-player mechanics might differ, but right now it feels more like a high-pressure rescue scenario—like a mix of Battlefield and Counter-Strike. It can be tactical if you're skilled, but at this stage it doesn't feel like a R6 experience.
GamePlay : I also have the alpha and thought it was entertaining, but it doesn’t feel like Rainbow Six at all. It reminds me more of BF:Hardline than Rainbow Six. Graphics : The team with the Alpha can say the graphics on the Airplane map are decent, but nothing impressive, and the Residential map is just average too. It’s disappointing that they only offer one game mode (Hostage Rescue) and restrict all video settings. So you really don’t know what you’re actually playing. Conclusion : In the short term it’s enjoyable for a few hours, but it becomes monotonous afterward. It runs adequately as an Alpha title from Ubisoft. I’m surprised by this part. But.. Would I buy it : No. Would I buy it on sale : Yes if the price is right. Also, I should mention I hate Uplay..
