I've been looking for a fresh competitive FPS lately, so I gave Rainbow Six Siege another shot after its rough debut. The idea is great, but I think the gameplay feels pretty bad. Would you mind sharing your thoughts on why? - Spawning is intense. - The maps are really scary. - Several flashy operators who don’t actually matter much. - A lot of scenarios where you can’t clearly see the enemy who’s taking you out from a distance. - Players seem to be acting like COD, and the loading/watching times are too long. - It feels like the game is just a shooter with a lot of gimmicks. Honestly, I’m not sure this qualifies as an esport and was curious to hear what others think. I’m just tired of all the competitive FPS games and RSS was my last option. By the way, I’ve been playing nonstop for a week now, trying to get used to the siege style, so I didn’t just play a few games before writing this.

I'm a long-term player since the game's release. I agree with most of your points. SSDs are really important. Regarding the claustrophobic areas, you're right about how the map opens more through gameplay rather than design. Having better map knowledge will definitely improve the experience. (Except Bartlett University, that map is still not great.) On September 5th, there was a major update. This season was called Operation Health, and Ubisoft said they're fixing many issues. Lighting and servers are both getting a lot of attention and positive feedback so far (especially on test servers). Ubisoft is also introducing new trap objectives and slowing down defensive speeds to balance gameplay. Since we started with a small community, the updates are only now matching up with current players. The game isn't perfect for everyone, but it's worth trying if you give it a shot.
