raid 0 NVMe / Aorus Master Z390
Hey everyone, do you have any insights on using NVMe drives in RAID on the Aorus Master z390? Here are two points: 1. If I set up a raid with just one drive, how much extra time would it take to start because of loading the RAID profile? 2. I own enough NVMe drives for a 512GB boot and my RAID drives as a backup. Would that even be practical? My goal is to free up space since I ran out of room for audio plugins and patches. I have a 512GB NVMe and recently bought a machine with the Complete 12 Ultimate Edition, which has over 900GB of audio assets. I needed more storage and was thinking about combining two 512GB NVMe drives or switching to a larger SSD. I’m considering this because my current setup is tight. I’m not sure if it would actually help, but I thought sharing my specific configuration might clarify things. Thanks for your help, and sorry for any mistakes in spelling or grammar!
Not available on any system because the graphics card has its own dedicated paths straight from the CPU. On the Z390, every M.2 port links to the chipset, meaning PCIe 3.0 x4 SSDs won’t noticeably boost RAID 0 speeds.
Great, no need to stress over performance—just focusing on expanding storage for a while.
