RAID 0 configuration for Windows 11 system
RAID 0 configuration for Windows 11 system
Hi there, I’m looking for advice on setting up a complete backup of my system, including OS, boot files, personal data, and apps. I also want to configure a RAID 0 setup between disk 0 and disk 1, essentially linking local C and D drives. I’m trying to restore everything onto the RAID 0 array by forming a RAID 0 between local C and D. Please help with the following points:
1. Backup Creation: What tools or methods work well for a full backup of my operating system, boot files, personal files, and applications?
2. RAID 0 Configuration: How to set up a RAID 0 between disk 0 and disk 1 effectively? What precautions should I consider?
3. Restoring OS: Can I transfer the Windows 11 OS from local disk C to another HDD and then rebuild it on the RAID 0 array? Is this a viable alternative to a full backup?
4. Alternatives: Are there better approaches or recommendations for achieving this setup and restoration?
Thank you in advance for your support. I’ve made some language adjustments to my post and used ChatGPT to refine my writing. Best regards, Muntadher Majid
Avoid using a RAID 0 setup for your boot disk. SSDs, particularly NVME ones, are incredibly fast, making RAID 0 redundant. If a single drive fails in a RAID configuration, all data is lost.
Getting additional RAM is a far better solution. Raid 0 likely won’t make much difference here, since low-latency pagefile/swap usage is important and running raid doesn’t offer much benefit. Also, you didn’t mention the hardware you’re using, which would be useful to know.
i lack sufficient memory due to budget and study constraints, so i considered these specifications: r5 1600af asus b450m-k with 2 hdd (1tb + 500gb), 2 ssd units (120gb + 120gb), evga gtx 970 ftw, transcend 8gb ddr4 2666, 1080p at 75hz, samsung tn monitor fsp hyper-k 750w, psu.
