I possess two identical storage units that I aim to merge into a RAID 0 configuration. One holds most of the applications already installed, while the other contains only the operating system. My intention was to duplicate all data from the primary drive, merge the units, and then relocate everything onto the new combined drives. Could this procedure cause any issues? Is there a more efficient approach?

This could definitely cause damage. Registry entries might fail, particularly when switching drive letters. I’d reinstall everything once the Raid 0 setup is complete.

Sadly, that was the strategy I was trying to steer clear of.

In fact, nothing should fail as long as you avoid running any of the programs on those disks. I recommend copying or backing up the software to disk, restarting in safe mode to reformat and set up the software RAID, then reverting the drive letter back to the original for the RAID0 drive. All registry entries and shortcuts will reference the same drive letter, providing additional storage without affecting functionality.

Ensure everything remains intact by copying all relevant data, including hidden files and system elements that need admin access. Verify the RAID drive letter matches before proceeding.

It seems the drive likely has no Windows system files, with everything on a separate operating system. Hidden files aren’t showing up in the root folder when hidden items are enabled, suggesting standard file hiding isn’t active. There may be other methods Windows uses to conceal files beyond typical visibility settings.

Absolutely, I get what you meant. It’s clear you were focusing on the drive letters, but your explanation was a bit vague. Thanks for the feedback!
