R7 3700X paired with B450 Aorus Elite
People often say Gigabyte mobos aren't great for B450 chipsets and the R7 3700X doesn’t mesh well with the B450 Aorus Elite. I wanted to find out how powerful the B450 Aorus Elite can be with just PBO enabled and without manual overclocking. For me, the main worry is the VRMs.
If you already have the motherboard, it's best to run the 3700X without enabling PBO. If you don't have one yet, consider getting a different model like the B450-A Pro Max from MSI.
You should expect potential issues related to the r7 3700x engine on the B450 Aorus Elite, such as performance limitations or compatibility concerns.
The VRMs aren't very good; usually I'd stick to a stock speed of 3600. It should fit the 3700X, but I wouldn't recommend pushing it beyond that.
With PBO turned on on the r7 3700x, VRM temperatures might increase significantly when using this Mobo.
Why bother with such poor quality? It’s disappointing to see such subpar products made.
b450 boards came with 2000 series Ryzen chips to support mid-range CPUs such as the 2200G, 2400G and up to 2600. at the time they didn’t realize AMD would release higher-end models like 3700X or 3900X, and the board wasn’t built for them. you shouldn’t expect top speed from a cheap board meant for a budget PC.
No, a 240 mm radiator on top won't block the heat removal from the VRM section.
