Hello, I’m dealing with an odd issue that started two weeks ago. My PC would suddenly lose its Ethernet connection, then all USB ports would disappear in the same minute, forcing me to restart through the case button. About a month prior, I experienced blue screens triggered by WATCHDOG VIOLATION, suspecting a CPU problem. After cleaning and reassembling everything, the issue vanished temporarily, but within weeks it returned—roughly four times daily. I also noticed my machine would stay on for extended periods after sunset, especially when the screen dims. As a developer, stability is crucial, and I need a fix that works without spending much money. This problem hasn’t occurred in the past five days, though it still happens occasionally. My current setup runs Linux (Ubuntu 20.04LTS & 18.04LTS) and Windows 10, and I’m trying to save money for school expenses. By the way, my computer has been acting this way for a while now, but it’s only stopped working sometimes during late hours.
If the PSU works well, the voltage variation doesn’t matter much. Enabling XMP can still be useful since Ryzen CPUs are quite sensitive to RAM.
The issue lies with the motherboard. It’s designed for a 4-core CPU, not an 8-core one. The VRMs aren’t strong enough to support it.
Review CMOS update bios, verify VRM temperature, consider switching PSU or replacing board if needed.
Updated information to the newest release. Tested all versions listed online, still believe PSU isn’t the issue—I think the motherboard might be faulty. Under heavy use, VRM reaches 47°C with stock cooler. For recommendations, I’m considering the Asus B450F Strix (the only one available right now) and for other B450 models I’ll wait about 20 days. A B550 or X570 would be better options. I plan to sell an application soon so I can afford a reliable motherboard—not just a high-end gaming board. For PSUs, I can’t ask you guys since the market here differs from EU and US (no Corsair only; Chinese silver-colored models, Cooler Master, ChiefTech are available, importing isn’t an option because it would take over 5 months). Should I go with the link you shared: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Pro-WS-X570-ACE/? No RGB, thank goodness. Regarding memory upgrades, what kit do you suggest? Kingston has every model here, though Corsair isn’t doing well right now.
I finished everything except exploring other PSU options—I’ll likely need to try one eventually. I’ll have to borrow one from a friend because the one I have in the other PC is 400W, matching this model (GPE400S). What I do in the US won’t work here. I should note I didn’t test another board yet, but I’m planning to buy a new one costing over 150EUR and see if it functions.
