I handle around 3.4 ghz at roughly 1.08v, and the chip uses very little power—perfect. But it's cold, so maybe a higher clock speed would help.

Usually it makes sense to say both overclocked the 1700 would perform better with multiple cores, though that depends on whether the system really needs those extra threads.
