R530 Poweredge CPU support details

I possess a R530 PowerEdge with the service tag HWYW482 that lacks both CPUs. Can I install either Broadwell (Xeon v4) or Haswell (Xeon v3) processors? Ebay lists them with both generations, which makes it hard to decide since I don’t know the original configuration. On Dell’s site they show Broadwell options, but I’m unsure if a BIOS update is necessary. The only update mentioned affects E5-2600 v4 microcode, suggesting Broadwell support. You might consider 14-core E5-2683 v3 or 12-core E5-2650 v4. (Feel free to share your thoughts on which would work best)

I purchased it for $150 and would need another $80 for the CPUs (if it functions). It will serve as a learning resource for me or something to experiment with for fun. If it works, I’ll likely install ESXI and run multiple virtual machines.

If those are the options, having two 2695 V3s would be preferable to two 2650 V4s.

The most affordable and quickest E5 2600 V4 model available right now. Also, hearing protection for the fan sound... Edit – Maybe V3s?
