During cinebench r23 with Ryzen Master and background processes, my 5500 reaches 87°C. Multi-core testing shows idle temps between 34-38°C. The stock cooler performs well, though the Wraith Stealth is the least efficient. I recently upgraded to the newer 5500 and haven’t played yet, but my case has solid airflow with four fans and good intake/exhaust. I’m using the original thermal paste now, intending to switch to master paste later. It feels unusually hot compared to my older R3 3100’s 72°C. Upgrading the cooler seems a possibility, but budget and time are constraints. Any advice?

Everything looks fine. There are still two more cores to consider. The 88C isn't risky, and Cinebench is quite challenging.

It was a bit let down since it only came with a stealth mode; they usually use that to make the character look tougher. Good that it’s not too expensive, but I felt a little concerned.

Stock cooler is supposed to suffice. Avoid spending extra on higher-end paste—it won’t make a difference. Just opt for an affordable 35$ model; a rising CPU performance is typical. You’re getting about half the power of a newer unit.

I already possess thermal paste from when I swapped the motherboard in April, it’s just waiting in a container. I’m planning to use an Arctic Freezer at 34°C for my gaming setup.

The spire usually included premium chips with a 95-watt power draw, marked by the higher TDP, whereas any Ryzen model under 65 watts would generally come with the stealth version.

Ah, my mistake. I kinda always thought it went: R3 - stealth R5 - spire R7 - prism Fair enough, thanks.

This feature mainly affected the initial generation Ryzen processors. For example, my 1600 model included a spire. By the 2000 series, the cooling design changed so the 2600 models came without one.
