To ensure you get the best deal, check together for CPU and motherboard options. The R5 model is more affordable since it includes a cooler.

Unless the game offers good value, choosing R5 3600 is usually more economical. It provides double the threads for multi-core tasks and matches single-core performance. The main advantage of an AMD build is that the motherboard remains viable, whereas the Intel option is limited.

Both CPUs perform well, though the 3600 tends to offer better value. You could see about 10 frames per second more with the 9600k in some games, but most screens use free sync, so you'd likely miss the difference.

Ryzen 5 3600 works well all day, matching the performance of an 8700K thanks to its SMT design. Avoid processors without hyperthreading or i7—those often cause lag and poor performance. Games like Battlefield 5, Read Dead Redemption 2, and others have already shown issues with the current threaded i5 models, and this trend will only grow. The 3600 stands out with its 12 threads and a solid upgrade route, unlike many 9th-gen Intel chips that are stuck in outdated sockets. TLDR: Choose the 3600 for better satisfaction and future upgrades.

The 3600 offers better performance at a lower price, and I understand the need for HT/smt to unlock its full potential. While it may lag behind the 8700k in gaming scenarios, you probably won't notice unless your GPU is extremely powerful and you're only running 1080p at high refresh rates. On a second-gen Ryzen, it won't stand out much. For games that are heavily CPU-bound or less GPU-dependent—like many MMOs—Intel might be a better fit.

You're considering pairing an RTX 2060 with a gaming PC for titles like Rust and Fortnite. That setup could work well if you're okay with the limitations of an AMD GPU. Just make sure your overall system balance is right for smooth performance.

Expect solid performance, but verify Rust compliance and 5700XT specifications.

In Australia, costs are unusually high for several reasons.
